We recently upgraded our demo unit from 10.1 to 11.0 and ordered a J169 with the JBM24 to test and play with. I got the phone to register and come up OK however the phone look exactly like a Ring Central phone; instead of a=, b= and c= I see a little phone with the extension number next to it and all of the buttons I programmed under button programming are not showing up. When I try to customize a button on the phone I get a message that says "Customization is not available at this time". Oddly, in system status the phone shows as "Avaya J169 (Standard SIP)" not sure if that's a problem, I cannot figure out what is it that I am missing! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Phone SW Version is 3.0.0.0.0.20

If adding these phones to an existing system with a static 46xxsettings.txt file, it is recommended that you first examine the settings in the system's auto-generated 46xxsettings.txt file and compare them to your static file. The key sections relevant to J139/J169/J179 telephone operation are in labeled J1X9AUTOGENERATEDSETTINGS, STIMULUSPHONECOMMONSETTINGS and STIMULUSSETTINGS. See The 46xxsettings.txt File.

If the correct settings are not specified, the J139/J169/J179 phones will operate as standard SIP telephone with no IP Office specific menus.

I checked the 46xxsettings.txt file and indeed it doesn't have any of the sections relevant to the J100 series phones that you posted on your reply. I am curious, you mention that the file is auto-generated, I guess that if I delete it the file will be created by IPO? Is it automatic or do I need reboot or force the system to generate it? Or do I need to go hunt for it and download it from Avaya's website?

While waiting for response, I went to https://support.avaya.com/downloads/download... and downloaded the 46xxsettings.txt, looked at the file but I could not find the sections relevant to J100 series phones that you mention in your post, is this the correct file?
Just for kicks, I deleted the \System SD\system\primary\46xxsettings.txt, rebooted the IP Office, but the file was not auto-generated, I then rebooted the phone, hoping that the request could trigger the auto-generation and to my surprise, now the phone looks and acts like I was expecting, like a normal Avaya phone but the 46xxsettings.txt was not auto-generated.
In system status the phone now shows as "Avaya J169 (SIP Feature)"

If there isn't a 46xxsettings.txt file the system will "create" one.
If you browse to you will see the auto-generated, it isn't stored on the SD card.

janni78, found it, thanks! Based on what I saw, if the 46xxsettings.txt is not on the SD card the system will present this auto-generated file to the phone(s) otherwise it is going to use what is on the SD card but my question now is; do I actually need to have a 46xxsettgins.txt file uploaded to the SD card?
