We have recently deployed a number of J169 phones to a brand new IPOSE at a site we manage and we have converted all the phones to H323 (don't ask, that's a whole other story), we have experienced a strange bug where a number of handsets are registering themselves as Avaya 4624s (which are long obsolete!)

It can be fixed fairly easily by hitting 'Reregister' on the extension in System Status, but they customer is getting slightly miffed that it happens at all, as the phone screens go all wonky and they can't transfer/hold etc. like they normally do.

Has anyone else experienced this with J169s in H323 mode?

I have some sort of the same issue on a IPO500V2 running 10.1.400.

The phones are displayed as 9611.

Were you able to auto set the phone to H323 mode or do I have to do this by hand at each phone in the admin menu?

You can only use a J169/J179 with H.323 firmware in IPO < 11. They register as a 9611.

Okkie, we used the SET SIG param in the 46xxspecials.txt file on the IPO to force the phones onto H323. Normally they show up as a 9611 but randomly they'll reregister as 4624s.

We've actually been in contact with Avaya directly who have recognized the bug and will hopefully be patching it.

Okay, but I only see this option mentioned in the 46xxsettings.txt

I will give it a try.

Tnx
