Folks. I am new to the UCx family but loved Nortel. I am trying to configure the IVR; which I believe to be similar to Nortel's AA and CCR; what I can't find is some type of configuration template. Any help for me please?
There isn't a "configuration template" per say, however, setting up an IVR in UCx is actually easier than BCM in my opinion. Check the link below for IVR information on the UCx.
Hey thanks UCxNortel; I got the recordings in and the "PATHS"as in Nortels CCR, but while the IVR answers, the in bound call can't access a path to an extension, Just keeps playing the IVR greeting. Got a clue for an 'ole retired phone guy like me?
I just found something on an old post about DTMF signaling on a SIP trunk. Said the guys from Emetrotel had to provide a different dtmfmode? I am using dtmfmode=rfc2833. Does this bring anything to mind please?
ORPG- There is a setting in the IVR page that allows for "Direct Dialing" that allows callers to direct dial an extension based on the Directory you choose. If you just have the Default Directory, that includes everyone who is in that directory based on whether you included that extension when you created the extension.
The cool thing about UCx is you can have multiple Directories that will allow you to have separate IVR Menus for each department, or if you are doing multiple tenants on the UCx, you can build a Directory for those extensions but will NOT be able to direct dial an extension that isn't included in that respective directory.
I would check that BEFORE you go running a DTMF issue, especially if you ca direct select the Menu Paths and the call goes through.
I hope this helps!
Have a blessed day!
On my ucx50 4.0 system, the single digit to a path works as well as dialing an extension with direct dial enabled for extensions or extension directory that has the included extensions
Where is your issue? Works on POTS but not SIP? If SIP, who is the SIP Provider and are they on the list of supported service providers? We are using VOIP.MS and use the rfc2833 with no problems.
All, that may be the problem; I am using Grandstream gateways for the customer's POTs trunks. That means they are SIP to the UCx. This is temporary until they get on the state network and become SIP only. Maybe the dtmfmode IS wrong?
Ah Ha! You didn't mention there was a Grandstream involved! Try this....
1. In your extension setting, set the dtmfmode to "in band audio"
2. In the Grandstream, under the "Profile" tab, change the "Preferred DTMF Method" to "In-audio" on Priorities 1, 2, and 3.
3. Hit "Apply" and "Update" at the bottom of the Profile page. This will probably reboot the Grandstream which will take 30 seconds or less.
Please post back and let us know if this worked for you. We have a large credit union with 7 branches working of a single UCx 450 with all IP sets. But, their Audio Response Unit requires almost a "pure" DTMF detection, and this is what we did to resolve the issue.
In case your GS gateway (GXW410X) is ver 1.4.1.4 Goto Settings Tab->Channels Settings->DTMF Methods Mine is set to ch1-4:3 (3= in-audio + RFC2833).
Didn't change extension setting
Folks, I went to extensions on the UCx and found nothing to change the dtmf mode. I have 4.0. does it make a difference please? have found it in the gateways though. You should also know the I am using a BCM 50 and 2 32-port DSMs for my digital Norstar stations.
The Grandstream device should be listed under the Extensions list as a "Generic SIP Device" when you build the actual FXS extension. There are settings under the "Device Options" that allow you to change the DTMF Mode. Remember, even thought the FXS device is an analog output, it is still built as a Generic SIP Device UNLESS you are using the analog ports from the Digital Gateway Server.
OK! Since I built all of the extensions as Generic Nortel, then they all have to be changed to Generic SIP. P 'Nuther problem now.....I will have to rebuild the Norstar ext's 'cause it won't let me edit them for Generic SIP.
Now that I think about it, I can just change my template ext to Generic SIP and bulk add the rest w/o changing any of the other individual stuff in each of them.
This makes no sense whatsoever. The Grandstream gateways are used on your system for POTS trunks (I assume FXO trunks). I also assume you don't have any station ports (FXS), which would need SIP extensions. Why should you then make any changes to extensions? To change the DTMF mode used for the Grandstream gateways, you must change the configuration of the SIP trunk(s) you created for these gateways.
Well I was going to try that first, but somehow it all got jumbled in the thread. I am just grateful for all of the input and help.I'm gonna give 'er a try. Change the Grandsteams first. To be continued folks.......................
I agree with ucxguy. If the Grandstream is used for TRUNKS then the extensions\stations have no bearing on this. The settings for the trunks can be adjusted in the Trunk Providers section.
The Trunk Providers page can be used for commercial SIP trunk providers, for which E-MetroTel validated the configuration by interoperability testing. With the exception of Allstream, all the trunks in the provider list are registration based SIP trunks.
FXO gateways are neither registration based SIP trunks nor commercial SIP trunks. Due to that, you cannot really use the Trunk Providers page for FXO trunks provided via a SIP gateway.
To interface SIP gateways, it is necessary to configure a SIP trunk using the "PBX - PBX Configuration - Trunks" page.
