We have just bought an IVR that uses a dialogic T1 card to communicate with our PBX. We had our Vendor come out and install a DS1 card and asked for it to be configured for ESF and B8ZS. The vendors of the IVR came back and asked that the signaling mode be changed from ISDN-PRI to E&M. I could not find a way to configure this card for E&M. I asked if we configured the signaling to AMI, if it would work, and they did say this would be acceptable. However, I'm finding it difficult to add a hunt group for the 24 channels on this card. When I try to change any configuration on the card, the system says I cannot make any changes because the card is in use. What do I need to do to get this DS1 card to communicate across a single cable to the Dialogic card in the server? What would be the best way to assign a hunt group to the 24 channels on the DS1 card?

You need to remove the trunks from your trunk group.
Change your DS1 from isdn-pri to robbed-bit.ESF & B8ZS should have been OK. To make the trunks E&M change the group to tie. From your description you may want to assign stations to the Ti ports instead of trunks. You mentioned trying to make a hunt group.

We connect to an IVR that uses dialogic cards, here is our DS1 config:

DS1 CIRCUIT PACK

Location: 01A15 Name: Syntellect IVR
Bit Rate: 1.544 Line Coding:ami-zcs
Line Compensation: 1 Framing Mode: d4
Signaling Mode: robbed-bit

Interface Companding: alaw
Idle Code: 11111111

Slip Detection? y Near-end CSU Type: other

Echo Cancellation? n

We then added 24 DS1FD stations and added them to a hunt group.

I am in the same boat as skshhi however our IVR is Voice Genie. I have set up the ds1 as above, set-up 24 DS1FD, and assigned them to a hunt-group. I have a data cable going from the TN767/120A to the dialogic card.

My question is where does the TN767 get it's signaling from? Does a signaling group need to be added?

For line-side T-1 circuits you don't need a CSU. You can either use the DS-1 to CSU cable from Avaya (25-pair amphenol to D-15 connector) or punch down on the pairs on the cross-connect field (pairs 22 & 23). I would recomment the amphenol cable. Cut the D-15 connector off and either put an RJ-45 adapter or cut the cable down on a 103 connecting block and use a CAT-5 jumper to connect to the Dialogics board.

A signaling group is only used for ISDN-PRI circuits. Using robbed-bit signaling the on-hook/off-hook/ringing signal is encapsulated within the channel.

Thanks Kevin, I'll give it a shot. I may be back with more Q's!

O.K. Kevin, what would the pin-out be for the RJ45 connector? If I punch down the 25pr end to a 103 block, do I cross connect pairs 22 & 23? What about the end that goes into the dialogic card?

Pair 22 goes to pins 1 & 2 on the 103 block. Pair 23 goes to pins 3 & 4. Use a straight CAT-5 calbe to connect the 103 block to the Dialogic card.

Can a TN464 be used for the signaling, or does it have to be a TN767?
