MY
I have installed ITO agent A.06.00 on AIX managed node running AIX 4.3.2.0. There is no error during installation and the ITO agent processes are all started up. I have assigned the AIX template to it and even tried reinstalling the templates, monitors etc. However there is still nothing capture in the message browser, not even the message "The following configuration information was successfully distributed:....". I noticed that llbd is running on this node.

I did the same steps in installing for SUN node (solaris 2.6 and 8) and do not have any problem, messages are captured and displayed on the message browser. On the sun node, i noticed is the dced running.

My ITO management server A.06.00 is running HP-UX 11.0

Any advise ?

llbd is part of IBM AIX's software licence management , not ITO Agent's

Have you done an opc_ragt -distrib for that node?

Are the messages being passed back to a Message Group that the user you're checking with can see?

Yes I have done the distribution.
I tried issue "opcmsg a=a o=o msg_text=test" from the AIX managed node, nothing is received on the browser.

Something strange on the llbd.
I check "lslpp -l | grep bos.net.ncs", it is there.
I start up "/usr/lib/ncs/bin/llbd &"

When I install the ito agent, the install.log shows such message below :
Checking if NCS or DCE-RPC packages are installed and if either Local Location Broker (llbd) or
DCE-RPC daemon (rpcd/dced) is running properly on system lute47.
WARNING: Neither NCS nor DCE-RPC package is installed but llbd is running! Assuming correct installation.

If "lslpp -l | grep bos.net.ncs" shows it is there, isn't this is installed? If not, how to install ncs rpc.

Please advise.

Yeent - what about your Message Groups? When you did your opcmsg test what Message Group did you send the message to and is your user in that Message Group? Mike

Mike,
I am using the opc_adm user to test. I have assigned all message groups and node groups to opc_adm.

I have checked with IBM and they asked me to start the llbd using "startsrc llbd".
I did that and then reinstall the agent software and templates, monitors etc. I still don't receive message using opcmsg.

I am still very puzzle on the message in the install.log which indicates :
WARNING: Neither NCS nor DCE-RPC package is installed but llbd
is running! Assuming correct installation.

Mike,

Is my big mistake. You have help me to think further.

You ask is my user in that Message Group. Yes it is and I have assigned all message groups and node groups to that user. I start thinking more and suspect the node is not in the ibm node group. Indeed it is NOT. I have now included it in the ibm node group and it works fine.

Thank you very much.

Excellent :)

The DCE-RPC message is a bit puzzling though... Mike
