How can I italicize book titles in the Index Palette in InDesign CS2? I can italicize the whole index or just the numbers (neither of which I want!), but I have not determined how to italicize just the title.

I've seen this question somewhere else. I don't understand what you want to do?

Is it inside the actual Palette or when you generate the Index?

If it is in the Palette what difference would it make?

Sorry I was not clear. What I want to do is all inside the index palate. I want to select a book title in the text to index, select italics for this item only, and save it as an italicized item so that when I generate the index it will be italicized. Then, if I need to generate the index again, it will still be italicized.

I can do this in Quark but I simply cannot figure out how to do it in ID. Using nested styles will italicize the item only if it is nested. The title will not be nested but will be a first line entry.

Hope this clarifies what I need.

Thanks so much for your help.

Just make a style for index italic and when you generate the index, click more options. Then choose the approprate
