I have a P4-1,5Ghz and 1GbRam@133Mhz...
I'll update to P4 2,2Ghz and 512Mb(PC1066/800Mhz)... the CPU speed it's clear that the new one is faster, but as i loose 512MB ram, won't this lower general performance?
What's driving this update? (why can't you have 1GB with faster processort?) Lots of posts suggest performance improvement peaks at around 512MB on XP (and lower on older versions of Windows) - so unless you're looking to next version of Windows....
The increase in CPU speed will likely go un-noticed by the average user. Are you using some high end software, say 3-D rendering? Short of that, I'd keep the box with the gig of RAM.
Bus speed is the speed that concerns me, how fast my devices are talking to each orther...
I just got some more infos, thnx for your answers, but following: The new BusRam runs at 800Mhz, with also a greatly improved FSB in compare to the P4B.... Also I'll take the P4T533-C, and not the P4T533, so I can have 4x256RIMM, which gives me 1Gb anyway..... I'll tell you tomorrow IF NTERRESTED some tests then....
And no i'm not using any special program... I'm a deadly Gamer
Actually, the new PC1066 memory runs at 1066MHz, with the frostside bus running at 533MHz. On your older system if you used PC800, then it ran on a 400MHz frontside bus with the memory at 800MHz.
The main difference between the P4T533 and P4T533-C is that the P4533T uses 32-bit RDRAM modules eliminating the need for buying them in pairs. The P4T533-C still uses the older 16-bit modules that has to be installed in pairs and is harder to overclock.
