Hi Everyone,
I am trying to create a new project that will handle some free tables some forms, reports etc, the problem is that i want to updates those free tables from some foxpro dbf files that are in use during the whole day and sometimes in "exclusive use " the problem is, i want to have always data that is current in the vfp table from the Dos dbf files, i know that is probably not possible and the only way is to update them by night using a scheduler batch file to append from the dos dbf into the vfp 9.0 spk 2 tables.
Any suggestion to be able to do this during the day while the Dos dbf files are in use in Exclusive USE ?
Thanks
Ernesto

Tamar,
Yes that program is on foxpro 2.0 and the company still running that, yes i want to change everything but is not going to be easy cause all the reports are based on a PRG file, so all the code for running a report is in a prg file and all get printed by using ? or ??

Installing generic text only printer driver, SET PRINTER TO "Generic / Text Only" and/or using ??? you can recycle such code on Windows.

Bye, Olaf.

Just before we digress too far from indexes and exlusive use, keep in mind that you can change from IDXs to CDXs without affecting any of the application's logic, and with almost no changes to your code. You don't need to worry about reports or anything else at that stage.

If you want to discuss how to handle reports in VFP, I suggest you start a new thread for that.

Mike
