It has been a while since I've played with hardware,
and I've not opened an E220R before.

Got the following error (several times):

SUNW,UltraSPARC-II: [ID 951168 kern.info]
[AFT0] errID 0x000027f4.a6006499 Corrected Memory Error on U0704 is Intermittent

[AFT0] Corrected Memory Error detected by CPU2, errID 0x00002814.b98347e2
AFSR 0x00000000.00100000<CE> AFAR 0x00000000.0cc9f820
AFSR.PSYND 0x0000(Score 05) AFSR.ETS 0x00 Fault_PC 0x1004a4340
UDBH Syndrome 0x80 Memory Module U0704

Is it easy to determine which physical module is bad?

This is an E220R running solaris-8.

Any help would be most helpfull.
And appreciated.

Might try prtdiag -v

/usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag -v

to status check H/W components

Derek, it seems that module U0704 is bad based on the text you posted. If you have the E220R documentation that should tell you where U0704 is located on the board, or else if you like reading really small white print you can look on the board itself. There are rules to populating memory and the E220R docs should cover this so if you remove a chip make sure you remove any others to make it a valid configuration.

I was gonna try to look up the docs on docs.sun.com but their site crashed right when I tried to look =)

Also, you may want to try Sun VTS to test the memory. If errors show up multiple times it's usually a good bet that it's toast, though.

Thanks everyone.

Found the REALLY tiny labels, and successfully
replace the SIMMS, everything is now better.

Did I mention that the labels were REALLY tiny?

Thanks again.
