I have a Hipath 4000 v6.

We have just installed a mass notification system that uses line level audio feed.

I would like to be able to dial an extension (or a code) and feed audio directly into the line level input of the Mass notification.

I was told the install folks thought they had "trunk pets" and can dial into by code to feed the EMNS.

The downside to remember is that I'm not good with AMO interface, but I can use Assistant. :-D

Should I just call a service ticket and pay the $144 an hour for them to build? Anyone done this type of work before?

Look at Valcom. They make a Station Level Paging Adapter. Create an Analog station, restrict as necessary, connect it to the device, and the device to your paging amp. Last time I used one you could program it to beep first and a couple other things. Gordon-Kapes might have something as well, but I have only used their trunk-connected paging adapters like ZPM-4, which has 4 different zones.

Viking is another one that I have used if you don't find what you need there.

If you do not want to use the Valcom across an analogue you can open a speaker phone and put the input across the speakerphone speaker.
Then you can voice call to the speaker phone and come out over the Valcom unit, or the ringing will come out over it instead.

I wonder if a trunk port could be configured, according to a 9006 manual that was another method. That may have required loop current provided by the page adapter, configuring the trunk as loop start. Sounds like your setup my just be to connect audio only on a 'dry' pair. If in fact the trunk needed to see loop current an interface would be needed to provide talk battery coupled to an audio transformer with a capacitor in series. The advantage to that is as soon as the page access code is dialed the connection is made, no need to wait for an analog line to be answered.

My Unify tech said something about a PET trunk or PET port that could do this.
However, I don't know if I have any open trunk ports.

I'm not familiar with the 4000, what would work is a feature the 3000 has - an analog line that just passes audio, typically for paging. I wonder if that's what a 'PET' is, I'm not familiar with the term.

Hmmm....If the 3k has it, the 4k should. According to the Prophesy.....[hourglass]

I think PET stands for Paging Equipment Trunk. From there I will go on to hazard a guess that it is any trunk that has paging equipment installed on it :eek:P Typically we just grab a trunk port, set it for ground start or loop start depending on the needs of the paging adapter connected to it, and of course build the requisite trunk group, etc. From there you could just take a station number in the dial plan and route it to the trunk group you created, and when someone dials that trunk group they hit the paging trunk and the paging adapter takes over. We typically use Gordon-Kapes form this application - they have a line of Zone Paging Adapters that can do all kinds of cool stuff. You can also get more control over who is allowed to page with a little more programming. In that case, instead of routing a station number in WABE to the trunk group you want you remove that station number from the dial plan, and then build an LDPLN so if someone dials those digits it evaluates thei permissions in their COS against what permissions are needed to access that trunk. In our case only the console operators are allowed to dial the paging codes, plus the switchroom phone for testing, of course. There are lots of different ways to tackle the project.

In the 3k the analog line is set to 'Loudspeaker' in 'Activated Features'. Hopefully there's an equivalent setting in the 4k.

donb01,

I just went to go look at the Gordon-Kapes stuff and found this on their website:

Effective June 1, 2012, the Gordon Kapes line of telecommunications products will no longer be available. This is due to greatly reduced demand caused by changes in technology, a natural process that moves inextricably onward.

Technical support will continue to be available. This is provided primarily to assist those whose products are under warranty or are of recent-vintage. Support for legacy products will be available on a limited basis. Parts and service will be available as inventory allows.

We thank you for your 30 years of support.

I also found out as part of my upgrade process to 4000 V7 that you cannot use a single channel trunk-level paging adapter with the 4000 - it has to be a multi-channel one because after you dial the trunk access code you still need to send another digit to get the switch to open up the voice path - or something like that. We stopped using the 8-line power failure backup units because no one keeps many copper trunks for backup anymore due to the proliferation of cell phones. You should still be able to use a station level paging adapter because that hooks to an analog line, answers the phone and does its business.

Thanks for the info.
