Hi all,

I have an issue with Access 2003 not responding to me once I attempt to print to a network printer and not my directly connected one.

This has been driving me nuts for months and I can't seem to find a fix or patch etc anywhere.

ANY help? Starting to pull my hair out.

Thanks

KT

Have you applied all the OfficeUpdate stuff ?
Have you the last driver for the printer ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

PHV,

Yes, all drivers and stuff are up to date, checked that first.

This has been plaguing me for months. I had to give up my local printer and use the network one and as long as I fake print to the local one I sometimes can get it to print but if I try to do it directly to the network one it locks up everytime. Sometimes I can get it to actually print before it locks up but not such luck today and I'm at wits end with it.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

KT

What exactly do you mean by "fake print to the local one?" And in order to not overlook the obvious (we sometimes do things the default way for so long that we forget about some settings) you have tried to change printers in the Page Setup, haven't you?

Thankx missinglinq but I've tried this as well. It locks up when I try to assign it to a specific printer.

I have no idea why, it does not do this when I am working on my laptop at home.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

do you have the right permissions to print to that printer?

To the best of my knowledge yes, it is a network printer we all use in the office so IT set it up and I assume we all have the correct levels of permission to do so.

Our IT guy is not an MS Office guy and has no idea why this is happening.

Like I said, I have no problems with printing to my home network printer.

Do you have any problem printing at work from other programs?

Nope, just with Access. All other programs run and print fine. This stopped being a problem when I had a local printer directly attached to my work pc.

I also have issues with reports and forms generation, I have to set my default printer as my local in order to make any changes or create new reports etc or else it will crash out from that also.

Very frustrating.

Have you tried/can you try re-attaching your PC to your local printer to see if you have a problem with that now?

When the local printer is attached, these issues go away. I am not able to use that printer right now as it was needed elsewhere so I am back to fighting with Access to run reports etc.

Was hoping that Microsoft had a fix for this but I have yet to see one.

Last resort will be to uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes it.

Thankx
