Issues about Removing Office '97

I have a friend that is trying to remove Office 97 and is having issues. Are there any known tricks as to its removal. He is getting an error message about "shell" being mentioned.

Thanks for the info, but this user is not up to the task of following those steps. Is Microsoft out of its mind!!!!
This is a 68 year old person, tinkering around in the registry.... What a crappy company they are!

If you look carefully at the article, there a link to to article 176823. If you use that and then completely remove the office folder, you will be all set.
