I have an IP 500 running 8.1 software. i have vmpro 8.1 running on a computer.

I have the phones ringing into a hunt group. that group goes to voicemail after 2 rings. in the vmpro, i have the hunt group go to a leave action, that goes to a module.

this works fine.

I have a button programmed on a phone to have it set the main hunt group to out of service. in the group, i have the out of service set to go to another hunt group.

When i pressed the button, the lines ring into the out of service group, but the vm for the first group answers?

why is this. the out of service group has a vm associated with it?

Thanks for the help in advance

The first destination owns the call for the duration of the call.
That is described in the overflow section of hunt groups.

you can only circumvent that behavior when you make the fallback group a sequential group, add a user into that group and forward that user to a shortcode *25 or whatever tickles your fancy that does a dial of the huntgroup you want to actually call.
Convoluted programming but then you don't have to play around with transfer action by group status in the vm pro programming
