(({Placements.name} in {?Company Name} or isnull ({?Company Name})) or
({Placements.customer} in {?Customer Id} or isnull ({?Customer Id}))) and
{Placements.cob} in {?COB}

Above is what I have in my record selection, I am needing to prompt for company, customer and cob, cob must ALWAYS have something but if company is selected customer can be null or vice versa, I can not get this to work. Any help would be appreciated.

I already showed you how to do this in a previous thread, so I'm wondering in what way that solution didn't meet your needs?

This is inside Crystal Reports that they are now wanting this done and it is not allowing me to leave any field null.

Under the File menu item, Report Options, Convert Database NULL Values to Default and Convert Other NULL Values to Default will affect how NULLs are handled. I always forget what I need to have checked/unchecked until I have an issue.

Yes, that's right, and my earlier solution would work within Crystal, too.

I'm sorry but when I use your solution in Crystal It still is not allowing me to leave one blank. I too am not understanding why your solution won't work, you had {?SelectGroup}, is this a formual I should be using???

You cannot leave a parameter null in XI. {?SelectGroup} was a string parameter that you would create with options "Company" and "Customer" (if I'm remembering correctly).
