My problem is we have an ISDN2 line setup with 2 MSN numbers which route through a Euracom pabx. Both the area code and number are installed correctly in the pabx, but cannot get the second MSN number to work. I have done some extensive testing on this, and I know the pabx to be good. B.T. have checked their end and that is good. Both lines work when pabx is out of line. I have this problem at several sites, and so far the only common denominator in the fault is that where I can not get the second MSN number to work, it comes from a system Y exchange (axe10) all the working ones from a system X. Is there anyway I can do some more testing to see how the MSN number is sent or does anybody have any ideas. B.T. have looked at this and seem to think its a compatibility issue, but I believe it to be a setting at the exchange will fix this.

Can the PABX output a protocol capture of the ISDN transactions as they occur? If so capture and incoming call to MSN1 and MSN 2 and post it here.

A Layer 3 protocol capture (preferably from a seperate protocol analyzer not part of the exchange nor the PBX) will almost certainly answer the question.

If the PBX cannot capture the protocol you'll need to either get BT to provide one or rent/borrow a protocol analyzer.

Good luck :)

B.T. have confirmed its do with the exchanges being different, they now want me to try changing some settings on the pabx. Have wrote to the company that supplies the pabx's and awaiting a response from them.

Ask the PABX vendor how to do a log capture of the ISDN transactions. Then send it to them and post it here as well.

Ask BT if they did a protocol trace. If so ask them to send you the file so you can send it to the PABX vendor. If you get it post it here.

If I can see the trace odds are I can help you point the vendor in the right direction as to the problem.

Good luck :)
