Hi,
we are currently using an Analog TRUNK and was thinking of migration to Digital ISDN.
Could anyone help me to provide some info of good and bad in between this from few criteria.
tq in advance.
Do you have multiple analogue trunks or just the one?
If singular, I presume you intend to replace with a BRI connection like ISDN2e.
If you have more than 15, you could replace your trunks with a PRI connection like ISDN30.
In any case, the below applies:
Positives
---------
Improved call quality as it is digital
Services such as CLI can be displayed on incoming calls
Negatives
---------
Cost! An ISDN link is infinitely more expensive
That's it!
It is not always correct to say, that "ISDN link is infinitely more expensive".
It could be really rather expensive to buy TLU76/1 because of crazy price structure for it (hardware price + price/port + ISDN software price + license price for bc10/11).
But even this is negotiable with most of suppliers.
Having analog trunks you can get much more running cost for cable rent and maintenance. In case of TLU75 using, you can pay rent for the public extensions. In this case you also have very limited DID services.
So, before doing any cost propositions, you need to calculate actual and proposed expenses.
