ISDN simulator software

Hi ya all,

I'm presently working with a couple of 801's to practice my router config techniques and I have heard that I can get some type of ISDN simulater - simluating the connection of an ISDN circuit - there avoiding the need to get a couple of ISDN connections installed for my lab.

Any thoughts? Any ideas on these simulators?

Basically, i'm studying for the cisco certifications and i'm doing the grass roots to specialist approach, and trying real hands on, with work exprience as a means to obtain the qualification.

I'm very serious about my career development and i was very affected by the paper MCSE label, having been one of those guys who actually read the cert guides, parcticed in the lab, and took and passed the exams... with pleanty of failed attempts along the way.

I'm not interested in exam crams, or practice exam questions, just material which will help me practie in the lab....

Any help from you all would be very much appreciated.

you can use routersim version 2 or switchsim ver 1 from routersim. the commands from the labs are very helpul though very limited. there is a new version though 3.0+ but I havne't tried it yet. with the new version you can customize your own lab.

does the routersim provide idsn model routers?

Sim's are ok if you dont have the money, but they will only take you part of the way. If you can buy a real ISDN sim from Teldone or others. This will set you back $1200 to $1500 but it is the best was to go. You can find them on ebay.com

If you go with software version, you may want to rent some rack time somewhere just to fill in the gaps. Shop around the price veries greatly.

It is essential you understand ISDN and DDR as it is the foundation for the more advance topics.
