im a bit confussled here,
for once, what exactly is "split pair"
... what im trying to do is to replace an isdn cable with a longer one.
so i simply crimped some western plugs on the end and plugged it in, but it didnt work.
measuring the old and new cables, i found my own crimped cable and all isdn cables i found in the storage show as "split pair " on all 8 pins, the cable im trying to replace doesnt.
what am i doing wrong here ???

Richard, Your statement is reality, anyone who can't see it,has got to be BSing themselves ,not to mention their customers. 3RC

If I ever found out that my cabling contractor - or any contractor for that matter - was covering up their mistakes and trying to hide them from me it would be the last time they ever worked for me... I had a guy drill a hole through the outer wall of a modular office building a few months ago trying to use a six foot drill bit, they came to me showed me the problem and showed me how they were going to fix it... much nicer than trying to fix it behind my back and hope I never found out.

Nobody ever said hide your mistakes,,,FIX them before the customer knows. Don't advertise mistakes JUST FIX THEM!
If any of my techs ever tried hiding them they would be gone as well...I think a little common sense will go a long ways here.

Ok guys, back to the problem. You show me someone that never screws up and I’ll show you someone who doesn’t do much. I am with Avaya on this one. If it is a 2 wire setup or a 4 wire setup up, a straight through cable should do what you are after. The flat 8 conductor cable is inexpensive and will make it easy for you to make your cable.
