All,

Here is the config..

IP406 3.2(54)
ISDN 30, currently using 8 Channels(lines)

The problem I am having, if more than 4 calls are made the system displays disconected.

If 4 members of staff are on the phone, if someone rings the office its dead.

I have spoken to the telco(BT) to have a line tested and they tell me my phone system is disallowing calls.. But telco are always unhelpful ;-)

Has anyone come across this?? any pointers?

thanks in advance, Phil

Ok, just check the channels that have been allowed in the PRI line group ensure these are set to 8 not 4.

Also get a monitor trace going with layers 1&2 running and get the ISDN cause disconnection codes, this will help alot to diagnose the fault.

May be worth checking call status and make sure you have no rogue modems/faxes using up your channels.

PRN: No VoCoder is available for the dial/ring tone

i will keep diging...

There is your problem.
Re-connect to monitor and you will show how many vcomp channels you have. My betting this is 4.
In which case your going to need to upgrade your VCM. Or review settings for Allow Direct Media path to see if this will releave at all.

we are not using VOIP serice between sites but are using IP phones...

Under the control unit it is showing...

1 IP406DS
2 Analogue POTS2
3 Digital DCP8
4 DIG DCPx30 V2

thanks

Phil

You can not see it there
Open monitor and look what it says right in the begin

You will see a line like this:

752950211mS PRN: LAW=A PRI=1, BRI=4, ALOG=0, ADSL=0 VCOMP=32, MDM=0, WAN=0, MODU=0 LANM=0 CkSRC=1 VMAIL=1(VER=3 TYP=1) CALLS=0(TOT=1926)

here you go

PRN: LAW=A PRI=1, BRI=0, ALOG=0, ADSL=0 VCOMP=4, MDM=0, WAN=0, MODU=1 LANM=0 CkSRC=1 VMAIL=1(VER=0 TYP=1) CALLS=0(TOT=407)

as you can see it shows 4...

Vcomp=4

Probably there are too many calls
You can see in monitor how many there are in use

VCOMP=4

Right here is your issue, you need more VCM Channels buddy.

Ensure Direct media path is enabled to not use channels on IP-IP calls.

okay just found out I need more compression, but it seems a bit harsh wehn i am using ip phones over isdn that it needs the same amount of channels..

sorry but what does this mean, many thanks

arhh does direct media between ip phones mean its direct rather than using channels?

Correct.
