Hi ,

I want my computer use memory more than 2 GB for w3p.exe process which belongs to Microsoft ISA Server 2004 . I've entered the /3gb switch in the boot.ini file , but the problem still remained . The service suddenly crashes with unknown reason periodically and I guess it's due a memory problem .

Thanks folks

To use the /3GB switch, the application needs to be /3GB aware. I don't know that ISA is. 3GB doesn't increase memory usage - it just changes it. (i.e. standard use is 2GB user mode memory per process, 2GB kernel memory (shared between all applications). /3GB just gives 3GB to user mode, and 1 GB to shared kernel.

If you have any kernel intentive applications (all ISA packet filters are in kernel mode now), it will function on a reduced memory pool.

Even if ISA isn't 3GB aware - it should be able to handle memory allocation - what it the exact error you are getting?
