Is this possible for 2 exchange servers?

Hello all,

I need to know if this is possible. I have 2 exchange servers ver. 5.5.

Background:
Each on sits in a separate Windows NT 4.0 domain, and we have a trust relation ship between each domain.
We have no connectors between the 2 exchange servers, they do not know about each other. They also have to different email addresses i.e. a@acomp.com on the East Coast and the other does a@bcomp.com on the West Coast. Each has their own SMTP gateway to the Internet.

Problem:
An edict was passed down from upper management, that everyone needs to have the email address of acomp.com.

What are my solutions:
I would like to keep both servers separate of each other if possible, or maybe a site connector so they can see the GAL of each site. But How do I go about getting both exchange servers to accept acomp.com as a email address?

Thanks in advance.

It is simple to GIVE everyone "acomp.com" email addresses, but do they want everyone to use that as their only or primary address? Do they also want both SMTP gates to stay up?

Are these servers in the same or different ORGS? What about SITES?

It is easy to give everyone these addresses, but an MX record is going to deliver ALL "acomp.com" mail to only one place. If the GAL on each server knows of all users on both servers, then it gets easier; just put a connector between servers. Well there is a LITTLE more to it, but lets get this far first.

I would like to shut down the SMTP internet gateway for on the server that does bcomp.com but that edict has not come from management yet.

As far as the org acomp and bcomp have the same org name, only problem is one is in caps, the other has it in lowercase. The site connectors have different names.
Would this prevent me from setting up a site connector? I don't think it would.
