I'm thinking about buying an iPAQ but my justification (/rationale for doing so would be if I could use it to fix work problems when traveling instead of lugging aroung a full laptop.

I had already found them several weeks ago. FWIW, I ended up getting an HP Jornada 547 (instead of iPAQ) which CostCo had (w/Targus keyboard) for $400. have since bought external IR modem/128M flash card and let me tell you: IT KICKS ASCII! . I also found a vendor who makes a serial card for it which should enable me to use it place of CRT ASCII terminal on Sun boxes at datacenter.
