We run InDesign on a PC, but 99% of our clients run it on MAC. Is there an easy way for us to exchange files or should I just buy a MAC?

Mac OSX is ideal for publishing because, with the basic system software, you are able to use both Windows and Mac fonts. Unless you purchase additional conversion software, your Windows computer cannot handle Mac fonts.

Windows cannot read Mac-formatted disks without additional software. See MacOpener at to read Mac disks.

Follow-up... The new Mac Mini at $499 makes buying a Mac a dandy option to sneak Mac OS into a Windows office that does not want to invest too much into Apple hardware. You can use your existing PC monitor, keyboard and mouse. Even eMacs are decent for basic page layout. See

The fonts are going to be the biggest hassle. We are in your same situation. However, after ten years of this sort of thing, any small hassles caused by fonts in current version pale in comparison to the epic problems in years past.

Thus, ensuring you have the same fonts on both systems (ps version) makes the difference negligable.

As long as they have the same set of fonts that you have, the files are completely interchangeable.

Depending on their monitor settings, they might be seeing colors differently (yours shuold appear darker with higher contrast), but as long as you pick the colors out of the Pantone books, and they have the Pantone books, there should be no problem
