Is there a way to create a "patch" for an MDE?

I have a distributed DB... and there is a change I need to make. The only way I know how to make the change is to recomile the DB into a new MDE and redistribute it to everyone. The problem is I do not want to have to go through that and tell all the clients they need to backup their information and then re-import it into a new MDE that I created.

Is there a way of sorts to create a "patch" possibly for an MDE? I have a compiler and installer, so I can do force installs to clients systems if that helps?

Thanks!

You may consider to split your distributed DB, so you simply have to replace the Front End MDE when you have made changes.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Hi,

I will agree with PH and strogly suggest to create a font-rend/backend application. It will be quite dangerous of having a single DB requiring updating from time to time.

Cheers!

It's important to learn the rules so that you know how to break them.

I was going to make the same comments... but this (from what it sounds) would need table and form changes also so users only see their entries... but maybe this dosent matter to ov3rdr1ve

You are right... after some research it seems splitting the DB is the best viable solution.

I was only really asking if there was a way to manipulate the mde, but since there is not then the split should do the trick!

Thanks!
