Hello Everyone,

This might be a stupid question but is there a way to connect to citrix without ice client actualy being installed on client's pc.
I know that you can nfuse and use your publised apps through web browser but you still need to have ica client installed on client's side.
Is there some other service like nfuse that does not need it? I have several user's that travel a lot and would like to connect sometimes from let's say an iternet cafea...
Is that possible?

Thanks,
Henryk

No. To connect to an ICA server, you need an ICA client - that's how it works. It's the same with RDP or any other service. You connect to a Web server running the http service using a browser which has a built-in http client, and you get e-mail via the built-in Exchange Server, SMTP, POP3 clients, etc. in your e-mail client.

Best bet is for your mobile users to travel with a laptop and dial up from their hotel rooms. Via a mobile phone is possible, if the users are patient enough...

Internet Cafe owners take note!

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks CitrixEngineer,

I thought so but just wanted to make sure...

Actually I disagree (sort of... Let me explain)

If you use NFuse, and set the preferences up to use the Java client, then when a user logs on from an Internet cafe, Nfuse opens a java window, downloads a couple of small java files, and connects to the required Published App.

So technically speaking, whilst you must have a Citrix Client of some sort, the Java client counts, and doesn't need an installation program, it's automatic.

So long as the cafe isn't blocking java, all is good. This is what we do (combined with RSA is very secure), travelling users rarely get laptops. Cheers,
Sam
