We are running XP on numerous machines including 3 remote locations attached to as/400 V4.5 running Client Access 5.1
We have attempted to correct a connection problem (it just hangs there FOREVER) by increasing bandwidth as well as installing additional T1 line...IBM wants us to upgrade from 4.5 to 5.1 on the 400...don't want to do this...also there is a question about Client Access...in the past (before XP) Win 98 and 95 were NetBios driven (which Client Access is also) and there weren't any hangups attaching to this particular drive on the AS/400, since XP is TCP/IP (basically a straight shot)there's been nothing but problems...can XP be reconfigured to use NetBios for the Client Access portion? If so, how???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would NetBEUI help? If so it can be istalled by doing the folllowing:

The files necessary for installing the NetBEUI protocol on Windows XP are Netnbf.inf and Nbf.sys. Complete the following steps to install NetBEUI:
1) Insert your Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and browse to the Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI folder.
2) Copy Nbf.sys to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Drivers directory.
3) Copy Netnbf.inf to the %SYSTEMROOT%\Inf hidden directory.

NOTE: To make a hidden folder viewable, perform the following steps:
Click Start, click Run, type Explorer, and then press ENTER.
Click Tools, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
Under Advanced Settings, click Show hidden files and folders under the Hidden files and folders Folder.
4) Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
5) Right-click the adapter you want to add NetBEUI to, and then click Properties.
6) On the General tab, click Install.
7) Click Protocol, and then click Add.
8) Click to select NetBEUI Protocol from the list and then click OK.
R9) estart your computer if you receive a prompt to complete the installation.

If you need assistance let me know.

Thank you for such a prompt reply...I'll have to try it and let you know. I sure hope it works. Thanks again.

Under TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, WINS, click to 'Enable NETBIOS over TCP/IP".
