Operating System = Windows Vista
I am not sure what is going on. I downloaded Python 2.5.2 from and my computer started messing up.
The problem that occured was everything would get selected in which ever window I happened to have focused.
This was crippeling... I couldn't do anything because everything would automatically get selected. Also when I
would reboot vista, just before desktop appeared, there would be a series of two or three beeps from the system
speakers, and the beeps sounded kinda playful -- which gave me the impression that they were intentional, and not just
some fluke from a compatibility issue. Then once desktop would appear a window would pop up asking if I wanted to
have "filter keys" enabled or not. I don't know anything about viruses, but aren't filter keys associated with certain
viruses?
I assumed that it was just a compatibility issue, but I didn't want to take any chances so I tried to reinstall
vista. I put in the original Vista disk(straight from EMachines factory), and shut down the machine then turned it
back on. My computer attempted to extract the files on the setup disk, but as soon as the files seemed to be
completely extracted and ready for setup -- the computer would restart. I tried reinstalling maybe 10 times and
my computer just kept restarting instead of setting up Vista. So I tried to delete as many files in my Windows
folder as I could, hoping that it would delete any culprit files. As you can geuss, when I shut down windows and
turned my machine back on - windows would not start, but those - playful beeps - that I mentioned were still
somehow beeping! I finally changed a couple settings in the bios, and was only then able to reinstall Vista.
After reinstalling Vista I went to and redownloaded python 2.5.2 and installed that program.
There was of course no other programs installed on my machine. I immediately encountered the same problem, and had
to reinstall Vista again. As of now I have not reinstalled python, and my computer seems fine.
I realize that should not have any viruses in their programs, and that Vista has a lot of
compatibility issues, but the behavior of the problems from python looked like a virus, and not just a compatibiliy
issue.
Can someone tell me what in the world is going on with python?
