Sorry to keep posting, but I'm trying to get as much info on this as I can.

I don't want to "pirate" the software, I disagree with that, but does anyone know if there is a "Trial" version of VFP to download anywhere? I looked around on Microsoft's site, but I couldn't find anything. I'd like to be able to actually see the software in a way before I commit to it.

Thanks!

There's no trial version.

Why not purchase from a vendor with a money-back guarantee?

There use to be a Public Beta program, but once the VFP was officially released the beta program stopped.

While it is most definitely not the same as actually working with the code in order to see what it is and how it works, you can get lots of sample pieces of code from the FAQ sites that are linked to the 5 Tek-Tips Visual Foxpro forum sites.

Additionally by Googling for a desired topic (such as XML & VFP) you can get quite a few examples from other sites showing how people are approaching getting a variety of things done with Visual Foxpro.

Good Luck,

Do you happen to have a copy of Visual Studio around the office? VFP 5 and 6 were part of Visual Studio and they'll give you a good idea of the language. We're at version 9 now but the changes have been incremental improvements - things like docking windows and XML features.

Or, maybe you can find a friendly local VFP programmer or vendor in your part of the world who would be willing to give you a hands-on demonstration. Many VFP folk are only too glad to act as evangalists for the product.

BTilson,

I've just created an entry out on the SPS Weblog that may be of interest to you. It will at least allow you to watch a project being created and compiled in Visual FoxPro. Here's the link:

Bye, Olaf.

Craig,
Nice video's.
Although I do believe knowing quit a lot about VFP these video's showed up some unknown or less-used possibilities.
Anyway thanks for it!!
