i have heard of browser hijacker. but is there such a thing as a chat client hijacker too? my browser is not working. and i can't get mirc to connect to any irc network.

Removing every piece of malware is not something that one program really achieves on its own, it is a case of multi-pronged attack using several reputable programs designed for malware removal.

I suspect, (but could be wrong) maybe you have been surfing the Internet as an Administrative user rather as a Limited user. This (if it applies), is not a very safe practice.

maybe i should change my admin to limited. but i just visit some websites and mirc. i've never had any problems with mirc. it must be some websites.

A limited account by its very nature is limited in what it can change on your machine. The status of a user doesn't in itself prevent you downloading malware, but what it does do is to prevent mass damage to important parts of the system which are only accessible to Administrators should you catch a load of malware.

While surfing as a limited user this procedure is always available to you should you wish to change access rights.
