I had been using chr(13) before when I was using Arial, because I believe it wasn't being correctly decoded and it generated a little square instead. But now that I am using a different font, the chr(13) is now correctly interpreted as a little plus sign. I need to know if there is a chr(xx) that represents a square/checkbox. Thanks so much as always.

iamedwardkim,
There is one in wingdings using letter "o"
Keystroke "alt+0168"

is there one that's not particular to a specific font? i'm using "TheSans B5 Plain" in case anyone knows one for this font.

Is there any reason you couldn't just use the box tool and draw a box on the report?

There is no square box character for all fonts. The box you saw is what prints (on some, not all, printers/monitors) when an "unprintable" character for the selected font attempts to print. CHR(13) normally represents CR, carriage return (the Enter key).

Character codes < 32 (space) are called control characters because they control the interpretation of the printable characters. Many of these also print those boxes in Arial. Some fonts, like the WingDings mentioned, don't print any normal letters, so they they can use the slots allocated for controls for other uses.
