Hello all,

I am using Cognos Impromptu v 7.1.339.0
Please answer either or both questions:

1. Is it better to use a report as a query and pull information from there rather than creating a hot file from the report and then using it?

2. How can you save a dataset and use fields from it in another report?

Thank-you,
Sharkatek

Dim strReportNameCat1(8) As String
Dim strHotFileNameCat1(8) As String
Shouldn't these be defined as Array?

I am what I am based on the decisions I have made.

Hi Guys - haven't visited this forum for some time, so have only just seen this. There is a third way that may or may not be appealing. I have used Access as an simple intermediary in a similar but not identical situation. Basically I saved the reports as .dbf files and used Access to link them together. Then created an ODBC link and catalog to the Access database.
Just a lateral thought, which you can ignore as you wish!

DrSimon, Note my previous post where Option 3 was to use an Access database to combine the data.

I am what I am based on the decisions I have made.
