Hello,

In the past week my pc hasnt been working at all. I havent had any time to analyze the problem more but from the few times i did this is what i got: One day i woke up my pc was off completely. I turned it on and it didnt have any power. I unplugged the power cable and pluged it back in and it did not want to turn on. I left it unplugged for 1 day. Next day when i woke up to go to work i plugged it back in and guess what, it was working fine. It loaded up XP and nothing was wrong with it. When i came home from work it was off again. Same problem only that now its not turning on at all. After another day of leaving it unplugged what it does is it turnes on and goes to the loading windows screen then it resets but it wont load again it will make noises as if it continuously restarting. All my parts in my computer are brand new xept for the PS. I also noticed that when i leave it on and it doesnt start i smell a very weird heated plastic smell. I checked the cpu and the fan is great heatsink is on properly thermal paste on as well its all good. I checked my videocard also no smell its all good the chipset just got a new fan yesterday all good. Now im a lil pissed cuz i dont have too much time but does this sound like its the PS?

Sure does. I'd replace it before it fries something else in your system....

Thanks

Im buying a new one as soon as i get outta work!

Buya PSU that gives out more watts than you think you need and has a second fan to help get air out of the case.

If you want a real quality fan at a reasonable price, buy the CWT-450BDP (Meridian Technology). I have seen an excellent review and I use one myself. It has the second fan (temperature controlled).

jfryer has made the point in another thread that the PSU must be able to supply 15A on the 12V output. I agree.

Great the new PSU is awsome 400watt how great... only on problem. After actually spending some time into troubleshooting every single part of my computer i realized that the motherboard was actually the issue. My chipset fan burnt out and i had replaced it but i guess it musta damaged the mobo =/ sad sad now i need a new mobo.
Thanks for the help tho this new PSU is awsome hehe all the power i need!
