Is the MCSD worth pursuing? Also, if it is, should I also look into getting certified in SQL Server or Oracle (since I don't have any experience in either database?). Thanks.

Worth pursuing? Yes! and No! It all depends on your future ambitions.

What career path do you plan to pursue? Make tentative 10, 5, 3, 2, and 1 year plans in that order. Where do you want to be, set goals, realisticly examine whare you are now, you'll see the path.

Having said all this, it won't necessarily hurt you to have it--unless that makes a potential employer think you're over-qualified (or to "techie") for a particular opportunity.

Are you going to work with databases?

If yes, the MCSD will help.

If you plan on providing technical support for MS Office then the MCSD will just be a shiny peice of paper on your wall.

Me, I am going to work on the MCSE and MCSD at the same time and just kill 2 birds with one stone... unless I find out that I cannot do that... then I will be sad, but I'll get better, take the MCSE and curse Microsoft for ever, or at least a week or two.

Whats' the best way to practice for the SQL server part of the MCSD/MCSE exam. I have a reference book already and read it often. DrAsh

DrAsh - SQLS is not a core requirement of the MCSD, nor the MCSE. Exams for SQLS can be taken for elective credit with each of these tracks. If that's the context you are referring, post the exam #/Title of which you are referring.

FWIW, if SQLS is your primary area, you may want to look into the MCDBA. Jon Hawkins
