I have other applications that are not compatible with SQLNET.Ora. Do I have to have SQLNET.ORA in order for business Objects to function?

nope. BO doesn't use it. TNSNames.ora is used.

Thanks for the response. We are using TNNAMEs.Ora but when I delete the SQLNET.ora file I cannot refresh my reports.

are you connecting to a sql server backend ?

The sqlnet.ora could have a setting in it that the tnsnames.ora uses. For example, the domain may be set in it. If you have a copy of the sqlnet.ora, check and see if there is anything in it that needs to be repeated in the tnsnames.ora.
