Is report file saved on a directory when posted in Excel 1

If I post a crystal report on Enterprise in an Excel format, is the .xls file saved in a file directory? Where would it be or how do I specify where I want it to be?

You can schedule it to export to a file, is that what you want?

I don't have CE in front of me, but one of the choices for destination is File/unmanaged disk or some such.

All scheduled files are stored in a CE managed repository (output or some such), and you'd have to write a query against the CE database to determine where it is and what it's named.

As synapse...mentioned, you can schedule a report to a disk location in the Excel format. If you choose the default location, it will be in the ...\FileStore\Output.... location.

You could also specify your own location, but make sure that the Job Server is running under an account that can access the location. If it is local it should be not problem, but a network locaiton may be denied.

The easiest route to determining the location would be to look in the History tab for the particular report in the Management Console and look at the Path.

Just a little addon to synaps... comment re writing a query to find out the location of the file. If you look at the report object via the Admin console, you can click on the report status ie 'Success' and it will give you the location in the file repository.

Thank you so much everyone! Since I have the free 8.0 version of enterprise, the saved file is only in rpt. Talking to Crystal abt getting the new version so we can get it saved in excel format.
