Hi,
This is probably a stupid question.

1. Is OS400 version 5.2= IBM AIX iSeries 5.2 ?
2. Is AS/400 DB sitting in OS400 ?

Thanks.

P

pwing,

I'm not sure on your first question. As to the second, yes, the DB is built into OS/400.

Hi Thanks.

So, this OS/400 is an IBM AIX mainframe machine?

Aix and OS/400 are two different operating systems. 5.2 is the latest version (i think) of Aix and it is a flavor of Unix. V5R2 is the latest release of the OS/400 that we have. I think it's a coincidence that they both have a 5 and a 2 in the version. IBM owns both of them. The OS/400 runs on a machine/chipset called the AS/400. The Aix runs on a machine/chipset called the RS6000.

The AS/400 became iSeries became I5. The hardware can be partioned to run almost any OS. This includes OS/400, AIX, Lunix, Windows. The RS6000 is a whole other system. I don't know much about that system.

Thanks.

So, the AS/400 chipset can run either AIX or OS/400 ?
