How can I tell?
This is the info I have about it:
Yamaha DS-XG (WDM) for laptop (Vaio) bought in 2001
Product ID: 104 / 1
Max Standard sampling bits: 16-bit
Max Standard sampling rate: 44.1khz
Channels: 65535

I have googled it, and used Sandra to gather this info, but I can't find anywhere any info on whether it is a full-duplex or not.

Thanks in advance,

JDL

If you're using a music application like Cubase, Logic, Reason, etc set the thing to record a track whilst playing back some other track. If it does this it's Full Duplex.

Why do you need full duplex? Are you doing music?

Thanks for replying norty303 :)
No, I am not doing music. I just want to do some voice-chatting over MSN Messenger ;)
According to what I read in its HELP file one has to have at least a half-duplex sound card.

Boy! I guess this is harder than I thought! :(

Best way to find out: just try out MSN voice chat and see how it works. If you have a full duplex sound card, you will be able to talk and hear your chat partner at the same time (like a traditional phone). If it is only half duplex, you will only be able to do one at a time.

I remember experimenting with netphones way back and even around 1999-2000, full duplex cards were common.

Thanks ftechguy,
I did try last weekend, but whether I started the conversation or my friend, it always failed. It wouldn't give a reason.
But I am almost sure I did it in the past (like a year ago), I just can't bet on it :(
Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with MSN Messenger and a mic to test it :(
