I am running a cisco 2811 router. i have 2 CSU/DSU cards connected to full T1 lines. I am having problems with one line currently. using the show interface command, it tells me the serial0/1/0 is down and the line protocol is down. using the cisco webpage that is on the router and running a test on the interface, it tells me that possible the cable is not connected when i know it is.

How would i tell if the CSU/DSU card is bad or is this a problem with the T1 line its self?

You could make a loopback cable. I forget what the pinouts are but you'll find them for sure on google. If all comes up with your loopback cable then you'll know it's your T1 line or cable.

I just went through major problems with 2811 and T1 cards. First off make sure you have the right card. Must be newer style wic-1dsu-t1-v2 and not wic-1dsu-t1. I had a problem were the cards would all work in the first slot but when moved to any oter slots they did not function correctly. I have and maintain three t1 point to point connections and went through 6 cards to get three that would function in any slot. Try checking the card in all of the slots and see if the router recognizes it. Cisco is aware of this and after lengthy TAC case they sent me replacements and now everything is ok. I relly hope that Linksys components are not finding there way into Cisco equipment......

Good Luck....

Well, this time it turned out to be the T1 line. I am going to check to see what vesion of the WIC cards i have because i have 2 cards in the router at my main location. One T1 connection is unstable. I get a bad line protocol all the time that brings the connection down. So i am working to resolve that issue. separate from the issue i had today.
