All of the sudden, afer having access to my email the previous 100 times...I started receiving this message from Microsoft when logging in to the email server or passport.net site to access my hotmail:

"Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. To use .NET Passport, you must enable cookies."

Understand, this was working perfectly up until now...I had made no changes to my settings when I received this message.

The default settings on IE6 are Medium. Even if I set the settings to override the default and allow 1st and 3rd party cookies it still wont log on...here I am using Microsoft to login into microsoft and it wont let me do it...what's up with that?

swordman - have you installed any adblocking / firewall software recently? any changes to your PC around the same time?

1st fix - make sure the date & time are correct on your PC.
strange as it sounds, it often prevents cookies from working!

other general fixes:
-delete ALL your cookies, temp internet files, etc
-repair / uninstall + reinstall IE
-scan for adware / spyware / malware (faq608-3482)

if you fix it, please let us know how! good luck :)

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

My father was having weird MSN Messenger problems including garbled screens. The problem had to do with a setting in ZoneAlarm with regard to Popups and other security settings. I don't have ZA installed to tell you which screen it is in, sorry.

Unbeleivable! I went to my clock settings on yesterday and was reviewing some dates while in a meeting. I closed the window and left the date in May. When I returned the date back to April...and went to hotmail and signed-in...it worked! Thanks!!

Unbelievable! I went to my clock settings on yesterday and was reviewing some dates while in a meeting. I closed the window and left the date in May. It was, in fact, after this that I had attempted to get into passport.net...When I returned the date back to April...and went to hotmail and signed-in...it worked! Thanks!! How did you ever figure that out?

"How did you ever figure that out?"
no idea at all :)

it's simply one of the first fixes we try for "cookies not working"
it's always nice when it's easy [bigsmile]
