Currently building a computer using ga-8id533. This stresses the importance of only using an agp 4x (1.5v) graphics card or the mobo will burn out.

Have been unable to confirm whether matrox is 1.5v and with 2x/4x cannot take for granted.

Very much appreciate it if you can please confirm whether 1.5v?

Many thanks,

Ooops! Should read Is Matrox 550 millenium 1.5v? ... slip of the mind!
Thanks,

BadBigBen,

Many thanks for the helpful info which will certainly be of use for future reference. Unfortunately, on this occassion, the Matrox 550 Millennium does not conform to any of the diagrams given. It may well be that I need to source precise product specifications (on which I have drawn a blank so far).

Is anybody familiar with the Matrox 550 Millennium please?

Many thanks,

this post states that the card will work with either 1.5 or 3.3 volt motherboard. I would continue to plumb the depths of Google to get to an exact specification for the card. In general, AGP4X is 1.5 v.

Tony - thanks, very helpful!

Given Gigabyte's graphic description of burnt out mobos it probably is prudent to continue to plumb Google's depths! However, post does confirm most likely explanation and so much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Denis

The Matrox G550 is an Universal AGP card, like Wahnula pointed out, which means it will take 3.3v or 1.5v, and the info WAS to be found under the LINK I provided, by cross referencing the PIN OUT (card connector)...

and this information was to be found on the MATROX website (one search word in GOOGLE and then navigating to said product):

* Part number (retail version): G55+MDHA32DSF *
* Card type: AGP 4x, compatible with all AGP slots (0.8, 1.5, or 3.3 V)
* Graphics memory: 32 MB
* Bracket connectors: DVI, HD-15
* Card form factor: ATX
* Bracket form factor: ATX
* EMC certifications: Class B – ACA, CE, CSA, FCC, VCCI
* Card size: 6.6" x 3.2"

which brings me to this point, PLEASE, next time do a thorough search before asking a question....
