I was just wondering the possible implications of disabling the Windows Firewall on the client machines in the domain I look after.

We have a very adequate and reliable hardware firewall solution in place, as well as corporate antivirus etc.

Obviously thought I would check before I pull the plug.....

Thanks

Hi cyberspace

The problem is that the perimiter firewall won't be much help is someone brings in an infected laptop or opens an attachment on your LAN. It would be better to open the necessary ports.

porkchopexpress is correct. A multi-tiered approach is the best solution. Use both firewalls if you can.

Will do, cheers :)
