I have a Eudora user who's annoyed by repeated Return Receipt requests, he clicks on "later" rather than "never" I've advised against this but I thought it was possible to stop Return Receipt requests from showing up altogether, or is it wishful thinking? Any advice welcome.

There IS a way to turn off the READ RECIPTS in Outlook Express. While in Outlook Express go to the menu bar and click on TOOLS> and scroll to OPTIONS> and then CLICK on the RECIPTS tab and unccheck where it says REQUEST A READ RECIPT FOR ALL SENT MESSAGES. IF you WANT to get a read reciept for any of your emails when you are composing one you go to the Menu Bar on the email you are composing and go to the TOOLS and click and scroll and click on the REQUEST READ RECEIPT to put a check and it will request a receipt for THAT EMAIL ONLY. IF you need any more help, let me know.

You should tell this user to ALWAYS click on "Never" otherwise they'll continue to get annoyed.

From the help menu:
If you receive a request for notification, click Now to queue the notification message in your Out mailbox: it will be sent the next time queued messages are sent. Click Later to close the message without sending a notification or click Cancel to dismiss the notification request from the screen while the return receipt message is open; however, each time you open the message and then close it (or if you try to delete it), the notification request will appear until you click either Now or Never. Click Never to cancel the notification request without ever sending a notification message.

She was wanting to know how to NOT SEND a READ RECIPT REQUEST to her friends.... I told her how to undo that 'feature' in her email options. These are 'preferences' and she may WANT to use at times and that is her perogative. I DO want to use them at times...I have mine unchecked and if I want to use them I do it just as I told her to and it works fine. It is her choice.

Thanks for your responses to my question, your input is much appreciated. I am familiar with using Return Receipts but the question is- is there any way you can avoid having to read them altogether? When you receive emails that have a return receipt, they demand that you take some kind of action, even to ignore them. Some colleagues are annoyed by them and I'm just trying to find a way around it, maybe there isn't one.
Thanks again.

Sorry I could not be more of a help...the only way I know is to have it NEVER send a read receipt request and then if you want to get one to request it manually. I do not think you can do anything on their end, only yours. Especially if they use a different email client. If they used OE then they could tell it to NEVER send a return receipt. They may need to contact Eudora and see if they can give them some idea as to what they can do.
Do you know anything about HTML?? :) I posted a question but have not as yet had a reply...there may not BE an answer. LOL!
