Good day All,

We have Opt 51c and have analogue trunks. Recently we had our vendor do traffic study.. and found that we are not utilizing all the trunks assigned to specific routes.

Routes are programmed as CO..

I read here that TDB can be modified once we get TN of Truinks from LTM.. under RTMB..

Can we reassign Trunks under a specific route in LD 14 for Analogue truinks..?

Please help..

Regards,

Jheendi

If you do a print of the trunks you are considering moving in LD 20, one of the options you will see will be RTMB (route , member) If the route configurations are exactly the same between where you are taking it from and intend to configure it to, you can disable the individual channel, make the changes in LD 14 to this prompt to reflect the new route and member # and you should be good to go. Then just re-enable the channel.
Having said that, you would probably be better off trying to eliminate multiple routes and make it as few large routes as possible, opening up all your channels to all calls so there is less chance of blocking calls.

yes.

We're all doing a lot of assuming here. If you are not using all the trunks in a specific route, it is probably because the trunks are bad, or you have more than you need.

The very first step is finding out what you have programmed, and what it connects to, i.e. what is its purpose:

LD 21
REQ LTM

This will list all the trunks.

Now, you have to prove which ones work - maybe they all do. Or maybe some do not.

Next you have to find out how the trunk routes are selected - is it in BARS, or do people dial Trunk Route Access codes.

Knowing what you have will bring everything together. Here is a simple "How to document your system" guide:

Thanks a million to trvlr1, cluesabc and of course Gene for prompt replies and lending a hand as always.. I am so happy that I am connected to this forum..

I am in the process of getting LTM printout as this is a remote site and also do you think.. I should also get RDB and CDB printout so that we can get more info.. I would definitely like to explore the possibility of probing channels to see if they all work or not.. will get back to you as soon I get printout in my hand..
Best Regards,

Jheendi

Thank you so much for your offer to help..
Here is LTM Printout .. we are getting busy trunks on Route 20 and 32 however we had no traffic on Route 38 and 40.. is there any way we can fix this please..

Thank you so much in advance kindly.

Yes they do, only Incoming trunks get busy on Thursday and we were wondering if we can shuffle trunk members to have equal traffic on incoming routes.. I do have RDB or CDB if you need to see more Gene.. please help..

Regards,

Jheendi

Do you know what route is getting busy signals?

You need the phone company to add more lines to that trunk group that is getting busy signals. Then you can have them remove lines from the trunk groups that have more capacity than you need. You aloone cannot change the number of paths the phone company has programmed to send calls to you.

You can move trunks from route to route, but it will not change what the phone company has set up for you to recieve calls on.

I agree with GH. To have more incoming lines you need to talk to the telco. These routes actually reflect outbound calling not inbound. If your call blocks were on outbound calls you would need to look at what you are looking at.
Also, have you considered putting in a couple of PRI circuits in place of all these analogs? You might find it is a lot cheaper and you may get away with only one PRI required, the dynamic aspect of a PRI means you will not have to worry about how many lines go to where as all lines will have the option to send the traffic where it needs to go regardless of the number called.

Thank you so much Trvlr1 and GH, really appreciate your help in this traffic study and always.. I was thinking to propose my Manager about PRI.. Do you have quick sheet for easy comparison between Analog Trunks and PRIs? please?

All depends on price your carrier charges but the break even point is usually about 16 trunks to 1 23 channel PRI

If you got 2 PRis, 46 trunks in one two way trunk group, ported all your analog numbers. You would probably save your company about $1200 a month. Installation and equipment would pay for it self pretty fast.

You would be a hero for saving so much a month and may even get a raise.

Much Appreciated Reuser.. Thanks a bunch.. it definelty help to convince my manager..

Jheendi

Thanks so much Gene and gang.. I just came back from our site. and all seems to be ok.. I found that Call Pilot ports are getting busy.. we only have two MPUs for 4 channels..

My question now is how can we make Auto Attendent give busy when call pilot channels are busy.. it is ring no answer on busy Call Pilot Voice Channles..

We are going to upgrade Call Pilot as it get worsned ever since we installed Auto Attendent.. on 61c..

Any idea what can be configured on Auto Atteneend so that if all ports on call pilot are busy we can give them busy signal..

Please help..

Regards,

Jheendi

Auto attendant is in the Call Pilot, so every call that comes in to the main number goes through the Call Pilot, using up access ports, the same ports that you are used by the rest of the company to access their personal voice mails etc. The set up is probably an ACD, which by design keeps people on hold until the next agent(in this case port) is available. There are several other ways to get access in place of ACD, but each have their own problems. The real solution to what you are experiencing is to increase the number of ports going in to Call Pilot, of course that means spending money.

Thank you so much Trvlr1, really appreciate your timely help.. just out of curiosity what are other ways.. till we get 201 upgrade.. to 16 ports.. to work around.. Can we add two more MPUs to have atleast 4 more ports for now..? Or are those for Fax or data.?

Regards,

Jheendi
