Anyone know if it is possible to identify the tn of a set which has no number or dial tone but is clearly plugged into a TN ? Assuming of course the TN is enabled. I have one in another building that will be tough to tone out. Set has time and date and that's it. It's a m3904. I can go into options on the phone etc.

So no one knows what the extension # is of this set?

Assuming it's not just disabled (you can use LDIS to find any that are disable and re-enable them)

You could make a list of all the digital TN's that are not currently configured.
Then create a single M2006 on one of the unused TN's,
issue an REQ: IDU l s c u to that TN
if you get no response, REQ: cpy 1 that M2006 to the next port on the list of unused TN's.
(When you see it respond with M3904 - you have the correct one)

or you could tone it. Much faster....

Thanks for all replies. I just toned it. It was more of a curiosity because I knew it was on a TN that wasn't programmed and thought there has to be a way. I like the suggestion about trying to find with serial number. I'll look into that and post an update.

To my knowledge, if it's disabled or not programmed, you can't find a serial number. If you find some method that works in this situation, I would love to hear about it!

Some times we will have an issue with phones that do not inable after
an ini. What we do is in LD 32 enls X X Loop and Shelf and it enables
all phone ports on the cards in that loop and shelf. Depending on how big
a system you have it could take a while, or you can build a script to run the
command on each loop and shelf.

You can do a inventory generate for the sets in ld 117 - then when you do a inv prt sets it shows you all the configured digital phones, but any that are disconnected / disabled it shows as <unavailable> so no serial number tracking there, but it is a good report to keep handy. Type/model, TN, Model Code, Color Code, SN, DES, Prime DN

Yeah, I've found it's easier to just re-enable all sets see if it fires backup. If not, break out the toner and go hunting. then go back and see which sets are disabled the next day and kill them or make notes for yourself to keep the hunting easier next time.
