Hi,

I have a situation in which I want to group 2 or 3 measures together. I have around 10 - 15 measures (including all calculated measures) and if I can group some measures together it makes more sense. Right now If i drop all the measures from the Measures Folder to the PPR, all the measures will be shown. But if i can group measures together, i will be able to drop only the measures that belongs to the group when i drop that measure group to the PP Report. Any ideas about how to do this in Power Play?

Thanks

You can position yourself where the measures are and click edit > Insert Measure. Name your measure and click the checkbox for 'measures folder' (ensure that it is checkeD). click ok. A measures folder is created in the measures pane. You can now drag and drop any measures into this folder so that they can now be grouped together.

Hi Thabrane,

First of all thank u so much for the reply. But I am totally confused with u said. I couldn't find the check box for the measures folder. when i right click some where on the measures pane, the only pop up menu I am seeing is "Insert Measure". I also clicked on a measure, then went to the Edit menu >> Insert Measure. Give the name there for the measure. But that checkbox is not there.
I am using Transformer Ver 6.6. It has anything to do with the Transformer Version??

Thanks,
Pyash

It may be a version problem. I am using version 7.1. I am not familiar with version 6.6 and do not know if this is a functionality or not. Maybe someone else has experience with this earlier version.

Pyash, you need to upgrade as measure folders were only introduced to PowerPlay transformer in series 7.

If you can't / don't want to upgrade, and your measures dont make sense to all be in the cube together, why dont you build different powercubes, and only include the related measures in each powercube?

If you want to build separate cubes with different measures included (note that you only need the one cube model), add some extra powercubes in the PowerCubes window in transformer, and go to the 'measures' tab in the PowerCubes properties window. In here, you can decide which measures are included and excluded from each of the cubes.

Alternatively, if it is only for reporting purposes that you don't want to see all of the measures, why don't you just use the Hide/Show option in powerplay to hide the measures you don't want to see?

Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate it.

Hi Guys,

One more quick question. The measure groups will be available when I publish the cube to the Powerplay Enterprise Server?? Or its applicable only to fat client interface?

Thanks,
Pyash

The Measure Folders will be available in Web and Client.

Hi,

The Measure Folders will be available in Web mean that users working with the cubes via Cognos Web Portal will be able to select and/or drag a group of measures?

Thanks,
Pyash
