Hi all,
I have just installed a 500Gb Western Digital HDD as my old one was getting full. I used the accompanied software to copy the old hard drive onto the new one.
The old hard drive had just 2 partitions, 'c' and 'd' the 'd' drive acted as a system backup and used up approx 4.5Gb out of an allotted 10Gb for that drive.
I have checked the new drive which has the correct 2 partitions but the new 'd' drive has 32Gb reserved for it and there is 27Gb free which is a total waste of space.
I don't want to go through the duplicating phase of the installation of the new drive again as it takes so long.
Is it possible to get some of that space back and add it to the new 'c' partition????
Any advice is welcomed with thanks

It is never advisable to try to change the size of your OS drive. However it is not impossible to do. You'd have you use some third party app like Partition Magic or something similar to do it. Just make sure you have a good back up before you start.

Cheers
Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

Thank you both so much for your advice and help. I downloaded EASEUS and resized the partitions I needed to without any problems at all. It was so easy and thanks go to you for your help.
many thanks
Graham
