I'm asking this question because I can't find an answer anywhere. I found a DC 2509 router on ebay for very cheap. This is for my home lab so obviously I don't need nor want to purchase all the DC Cable/adapters. What I really want to know and I can't find in any Cisco white papers is:

It appears that the routers are physically the same in terms of chipset, boards, etc. So Can an individual unscrew the top; remove the DC power supply and replace it with an AC power supply?

I am aware that the hole (where on would plug in the AC adapter)will probably need to be modified which I can figure out. What I wanna know is if the connectors on the board are the same on the inside connection from the power supply to the motherboard (per say) on the router?

Thanks again guys

It might be cheaper to buy a small -48V DC power supply.

You can get a 48VDC, 1.25A desktop power supply from DigiKey for $30 or so.

I would bet if you searched locally for electronics parts suppliers, you could even find them locally cheaper.

From there, it is a simple matter of making up the proper connector for the input.

The DC power supply is the same size and internal connectors as the AC power supply on the 2500 series routers. You can easily replace the DC with an AC, the one mounting screw will fit both power supplies.

Thats great to know. I was hoping for that answer Robertjo24. Thanks, too bad I let that router go, but I will keep my eyes open for the next one that pops up.
