Did you upgrade or do a complete install? If you upgraded did you choose the backup win98 incase of uninstall option? James Collins

Anything installed before the upgrade SHOULD (not always the case) be fine. Anything installed after the upgrade may need to be reinstalled. Its worth a shot. You never know it may go smoothly. James Collins

Gort,

You shouldn't have too many problems. I did both the Win98 to ME with the 98 backup option and without. Without the backup I needed to FDISK about 4 times to get all of ME's hooks off of the hard drive. I would also recommend checking out Microsofts support site. The site will give you some good tips to be aware of before you start reinstalling 98.

I had several networking type problems with my 98 and ME machines in my network. The fix/patch for the sharing tab didn't work as well as other minor but annoying problems.

Good Luck,

Without a doubt this is one of the best help sites around.

If you have to reinstall everything, it's worth it. Win98 SE, while still notoriously buggy, runs rings around ME. Hope Billie keeps supporting 98 for a good while because I definitely won't be using XP unless the activation feature is removed.

Basically you should not have a problem uninstalling ME. My suggestion is to just Wipe the drive clean and start Win98 from scratch. That way you besure that most problems associated with uninstalling wont be there. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.
