Is existing VM Pro license valid?

Hello,
I have looked the documentation and I need something clarified please. I am looking to upgrade a site IPO 500 to a 6.0. in order to scn between two sites. This site already has a an 8 port vm pro license. Upon upgrade, are the existing licenses valid? I was only going to upgrade it to an essential edition to save costs but do I need the prefered edition? It seems like the customer would be paying twice for the same vm pro. Please help. If you already have VMPro, then when you upgrade to 6.0 you'll see that license morph into Preferred Edition. VMPro/Preferred Edition are one in the same. You're good to go.
