Is a D channel for each PRI a must?

Can I not group the PRIs and share a D channel like on the PBX or does Call Manager have to have a seperate D channel for each PRI? And if so, why is that?

Thanks

Gary

There are certain instances where you can use only 1 channel for multiple PRIs. The trouble is, if that PRI goes down, you lose signalling for the entire bunch.

Osteohead thanks for the link but it prompts me for a log on. Can you give a brief over view of the link?

Sorry for making you wait, I have not had time to get in here lately. The link is now broken... All it talked about was the ways you can set up a t/e 1 interface and how signalling will work. I would suggest that you take a look on cisco.com and search there.

It think it depends on how you do it, if you did MGCP, you need to do a D channel for each PRI, if you do an H323 gateway and all PRI's are on the same gateway you could do NFAS..
